In 1987 Jools Holland formed his first Big Band comprising just himself and drummer Gilson Lavis. Over the years, this has gradually metamorphosed into the current 19-piece Rhythm & Blues Orchestra which currently consists of 1 pianist, 1 drummer, 2 femail vocalists, 1 guitar, 1 bass guitar, 1 organ, 2 tenor saxophones, 2 alto saxophones, 1 baritone saxophone, 3 trumpets, and 4 trombones.

The Band have a hectic tour schedule which offers up plenty of opportunities to see Ruby singing live with one of the best Rhythm & Blues outfits in the Country {if not the world?!}.

At most of Jools' concerts, Ruby as a "very special guest singer" gets to perform 2-3 songs in the main set, and a couple more during the inevitable lively encores.

Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra play up to 100 concerts a year. Whilst most of these concerts are in the UK, the increasing popularity of Jools and the Band now means there are often several European dates too.
